Presented as part of MPAC’s Blakout program, Marrow is a muscular dance work set on shared ground, where politics and identity are not our totality. Australian Dance Theatre’s incredible ensemble tangles with layers of smoke and light to disassemble dominant cultural narratives and reveal the truth of our past.

Bracingly honest, Marrow is a clear-eyed and powerful work that sifts through the smoky forms of our national conscience to imagine a new future that acknowledges the push of our present moment.

Created by Australian Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director, Wiradjuri man Daniel Riley, in collaboration with ADT’s Company Artists, senior Kaurna/Ngarrindjeri Elder Uncle Moogy Sumner AM, Jaadwa composer James Howard (SAVAGE), Matthew Adey (THE HUM) and Ailsa Patterson (Tracker), Marrow sees the company delve deeper into the falsehoods and alienation at the core of our shared history.

Blakout is a bold celebration of First Nations talent, shining a spotlight on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists from Reconciliation Week to NAIDOC Week. Experience a deadly mix of music and dance, with a multi-generational lineup that brings powerful First Nations storytelling to life.
