In this workshop we will explore the basic process of printmaking with cyanotype, creating fun and interesting prints or “photograms” on paper. Cyanotype is an alternative photographic printing process invented in 1842, often referred to as sun prints as the process involves exposing a UV light sensitive surface to the sun to develop.
You will be introduced to the chemicals used, how to mix them, and coat your paper; how to expose your paper to create photograms using found objects and simple contact prints using a variety of textured materials. The aim of the workshop is to equip you with the basic skills and knowledge to continue creating beautiful cyanotypes at home.
