Business Basics for Screen Creatives is a fun and practical full-day workshop that covers all the essentials a creative needs to get the basics of business right and avoid some of the most common pitfalls that screen creatives can experience when entering the world of self-employment, small business, and freelancing.
It also covers the legal necessities of running a professional practice and creates a safe friendly safe space where the mysteries of creative business are unravelled.
Tailored to screen professionals and creatives, participants will learn the following:

+ The basics of business including ABNs, structures, business names and licences,
+ The legal steps to registering your business,
+ Getting ready for managing the money,
+ Preparing for marketing and promotion,
+ Where to go for more help.

Who is presenting?
Monica Davidson – Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist, performer, and filmmaker. Monica has a Masters degree in Screen Arts and Business from AFTRS, and was appointed as Australia’s first Creative Industries Business Advisor in 2013. In 2016 Monica founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business, an organisation dedicated to educating creatives about small business skills, financial literacy and marketing.
