Celebrate the opening of our new Permanent Exhibition, Georges River Reflections, alongside our latest Main Gallery exhibition, Petrina Hicks | Snakes and mirrors – A Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) touring exhibition
To mark this special occasion, we’ll welcome the stories, art, and objects to the site with a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy live animal experiences with Raptor Reptiles and take part in an art program led by Kamilaroi artist Amy Lea Hill-Trindall, along with plenty more activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Official Opening | 10 – 10.30am
Our Open Day begins with an official welcome, featuring a traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country. Enjoy inspiring speeches and a captivating performance by the Fiestaville Choir, Hurstville’s multicultural community choir.

Raptor Reptiles
Discover the wonders of Australian wildlife with Raptor Reptiles. Meet fascinating birds, such as the tawny frogmouth, and unique birds, reptiles and amphibians up close! This interactive display features two educators who will share insights about animal habitats, conservation, and the important role we can play in protecting them.
Weaving with Amy Lea Hill-Trindall
Join Kamilaroi artist Amy Lea Hill-Trindall for a drop-in ring-woven activity. She will guide you every step of the way in this relaxed activity for the whole family. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
More fun!
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a coffee cart, take photos at our photo station, and make their own animal hat to take home. Families can also explore new interactive elements throughout both exhibitions, perfect for visitors of all ages.
