This writing course, Fight, Flight, Freeze – Get Out of Your Own Way and Write with Natasha Rai, will take place at Writing NSW in Sydney.

There is a lot of advice out there on writing practice – write every day; set a time goal; set a word goal. Our nervous system has an immediate and significant impact on our moods, thoughts and feelings. If you’ve ever had the experience of not wanting to write, even though you have an idea or are in the middle of a work in progress, perhaps your nervous system needs a shift.

In this one-day workshop with Natasha Rai, you’ll connect with your nervous system, discovering which state is the most familiar and how that impacts your creative flow and process. You’ll gain insight into how the nervous system works and most importantly what works for your system to move in and out of creativity and inspiration.

Expected learning outcomes

In this workshop, participants will gain:

  1. An understanding of their own nervous system states and how that impacts creativity.
  2. New skills and strategies to shift out of states to enhance creativity and writing flow.
  3. The ability to recognise the type and quality of writing that can be achieved under different states of the nervous system.

Participant requirements

Pen and paper, and/or a fully charged device.
