‘Duality’ is an exhibition at Firestation Print Studio that embarks on the exploration of the cultural identities of two artists.
Artists James Farrar, an adopted Korean man living in Australia, and Patricia Agus, a Filipino immigrant raised away from family and in a culturally different environment share a nuanced and complex relationship with their sense of of self and cultural heritage. This exhibition will have a primary focus on healing and a sense of home.
Printmaking is the primary mode of storytelling in the works exhibited. This meticulous and repetitive process compels the artists to confront their individual stories and start healing inner conflicts. Through collaborative practices, Farrar and Agus present two distinct narratives of a shared experience, representing different stages in their personal growth and understanding.
