For three Saturday afternoons, Footscray Town Hall becomes the stage for a series of live choreographic interventions by acclaimed Naarm/Melbourne choreographer and performer Alice Dixon.
Responding to Encounters, an exhibition that explores unexpected connections between artworks in the City’s Collection, watch Alice animate the grand Romanesque building with movement. As dance unfolds across two levels of the Town Hall, the exhibition shifts from a static display to a living experience, inviting visitors to encounter the City’s collection alongside the uncollectable artform of live performance.

About the exhibition
Encounters is a new exhibition that brings together works from Maribyrnong’s Art and Heritage Collection in new and surprising ways.
Inspired by the idea of the Wunderkammer (a ‘room of wonder’ that encourages curiosity and comparison), this exhibition showcases an eclectic array of the City’s Collection.
From heritage regalia to contemporary ceramics, works across mediums, time periods and styles are connected and interweaved. By blurring boundaries, the exhibition invites viewers to explore local narratives, shifting values and relationships across time. Learn more about the exhibition here.
