Sydney Philharmonia Choirs is thrilled to present a spectacle of serenity and effervescent joy with Duruflé’s Requiem & Poulenc’s Gloria at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, on Saturday 16 May.

Duruflé’s Requiem is a true choral classic and, in this rare offering, the choir performs with the full Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra, giving audiences the chance to hear Duruflé’s orchestration in its original, 1947 splendour. Poulenc’s Gloria makes the perfect pairing. Looking to the past and giving fresh life to old traditions, Poulenc channels irrepressible joy and candour, the aural equivalent of brilliant stained glass in clear primary colours.

Between these two French classics, the choir presents the world premiere of Australian composer Carl Vine’s epic, new choral work Time’s Fell Hand, co-commissioned by a member of the Festival Chorus, Min Zhu, and Jesse Tattersall.

Elegant, transcendent and innovative, don’t miss this performance of two of the greatest choral works of the 20th century and this new Australian choral work.
