Back in her hometown, Riley stands in the ‘fifteen items or less’ line at the local Woolies. There, an old (now-hot) school friend, Kieran, mistakes her as Mia. And she doesn’t correct him.
But the thing is, Mia is her identical twin who recently died, leaving behind a son, Lucas.
Everyone has a 20-something crisis. Riley’s is a choice between staying in Melbourne with her ambitious girlfriend, Eleanor, becoming the legal guardian of a five-year-old, or something entirely different…
If Kieran can’t tell the difference, does it really matter? At the end of the day, where does Riley end and Mia begin?
Written by Meg McDonald, directed by Lauren Bennett and starring the incredible Georgia McGinness, Draw Two is a sharp, poignant and funny monologue about mistaken identities, Neapolitan ice cream, sunburnt shoulders, sharks in bathtubs and beating little kids at Uno. It’s also about how we come to terms with loss and sudden motherhood, and what it truly takes to care.
