This immersive Intro to cyanotype workshop invites participants to explore one of photography’s most magical and accessible alternative processes. Designed as a creative day out or a thoughtful gift experience, the workshop offers hands-on learning in a supportive, small-group setting.

Participants are introduced to the history and origins of the cyanotype process, from its early scientific uses to its ongoing relevance in contemporary art. Through guided demonstrations and individual experimentation, participants learn how to create their own vivid blue prints on cotton, paper, and other suitable surfaces.

The workshop covers key techniques including preparing and coating surfaces with light-sensitive chemistry, exposure using sunlight or UV light, developing and fixing prints, and best practices for drying and caring for finished works. Participants are also shown how the process can be adapted for safe and straightforward use at home, allowing skills learned during the session to be extended beyond the studio.

With a maximum of 4-5 participants per workshop, the format allows for personalised guidance, one-on-one support, and ample time for experimentation and creative decision-making. No prior experience is required, making the workshop suitable for beginners, while the depth of technical instruction also supports those wishing to refine their process.
