Expect big-name comics and rising stars from Australia and around the world – here to light up the Shirley Burke Theatre. You’ll recognise these talents from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and from shows such as Have You Been Paying Attention?, Thank God You’re Here and Spicks & Specks. Lovingly curated by veteran comedy programmer Janet A McLeod (aka the fairy godmother of Melbourne comedy), Comedy at the Shirley is guaranteed to leave you in hysterics.

November Show Features

Mike McLeish

Comedian, actor, cabaret star and our brilliantly funny, highly engaging host for the evening. You may recognise Mike as the star of Keating The Musical or from starring turns on ABC’s Utopia or The Drop Off.

Ivan Aristeguieta

Everybody’s favourite Venezuelan Aussie. As seen on multiple comedy galas and almost every comedy panel show there is.
‘Skilful timing, energised delivery and supreme likeability… near sublime routines could have come from Jerry Seinfeld.’ ★★★★ Chortle (UK)

Bev Killick

Bev is from the bold and brassy school of stand up, delivering a non-stop energetic set every time. As soon as she blasts her way on stage, you know you’re in for a treat. Likeable, bawdy and real.

Ray O’Leary

Looking like an accountant who has accidentally wandered on stage, this brilliantly deadpan New Zealander sells out shows wherever he goes. A regular on Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Cheap Seats and NZ Taskmaster, Ray can also be heard on hit Dungeons and Dragons podcast, Waterdeep Mountain High (of course he can).
