Hidden Curiosities is a new Kammerklang series championing existing, under-performed, Australian repertoire drawn from an open call for scores. Two performers pour over this collection of treasures to build their own personal dream program showcasing not just the talent of Australian composers, but their own taste, talents and stories.

In 2025, we are putting the spotlight on the viola, collecting music from all over Australia for two excellent concerts.

At First Light is curated and performed by Sydney violist James Wannan. Featuring emerging and established voices from Australians local and abroad, this one-hour solo concert showcases the expressive potential of the viola.

James Wannan performs At First Light at Church Street Studios in Sydney featuring music by Pedro Alvarez, Angus Davison, Chris Williams, Elizabeth Younan, Natalie Nicolas, Rhys Little and a world premiere commission for James by Kammerklang’s artistic director, Cameron Lam.

Its partner program, Out of the Shadows will be performed in Melbourne and Sydney by Phoebe Green. (Double feature tickets available)
