Art Labs is a series of artist-led workshops connecting young audiences with artists, artmaking and the National Gallery collection.
In this Art Lab, join multidisciplinary artist Anna Madeleine Raupach and a group of like-minded peers in a cyanotype printing workshop inspired by the exhibition Olive Cotton and Her Contemporaries. This is a National Gallery Touring Exhibition presented as part of the Bowness Family Foundation Photography Touring Program.
Begin the day with an exhibition floor talk led by National Gallery artist educators. Gain insight into the work of one of Australia’s most significant modernist photographers, Olive Cotton, and some of her celebrated international peers.
Following the talk, work hands-on with Anna to learn about the cyanotype process — a camera-less photographic printing technique that uses sunlight to produce distinctive blue-toned images. Experiment with light, shadow, form, composition and found objects to create cyanotype exposures and take home your unique prints.
All materials provided.
This Art Lab is made possible by the generous support of the Bowness Family Foundation.
