Discover the hidden cultural treasures that connect us to the narratives that have shaped Melbourne’s evolving identity. Occupying a halfway point between the eclecticism common to a private collection and the ambition of a state museum, the collection is big enough to reflect the city and its narratives and small enough to stay connected to the street and its stories.
Behind-the-scenes tours led by specialists will illuminate stories about key artworks and artefacts in the collection store. Tours will also feature artist talks by Kait James (Wadawurrung) (Saturday) and Fina Fichera (Sunday).
Tours are free and run between 10am-3.30pm on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July. No bookings are required. For more information, visit the Open House Melbourne website.
