Using an A5 sketchbook, you’ll begin creating a personal “word portrait” through collage, writing and simple art journaling techniques. Working through the alphabet, each page of your journal will be dedicated to a different letter, gradually building an A-Z collection of words, images and ideas that reflect who you are.
Bernice will share examples, prompts and creative approaches to help you get started, while encouraging every participant to develop a book that feels personal rather than following a set template. The workshop is designed as the beginning of an ongoing project, so you’ll leave with ideas and guidance to continue filling your book at home.
Suitable for beginners as well as experienced makers, this workshop offers a thoughtful and creative space to reflect, experiment and connect through art.
Participants are welcome to bring old magazines, brochures, catalogues or other paper materials to incorporate into their journal, although all essential materials will be provided.
Note: there will be a 30-minute lunch break and participants are welcome to eat in the workshop space. Please bring a light lunch and note that no microwave is available. Tea and coffee will be provided.
