Spanning over ten years, these works draw inspiration from a range of experiences and settings: suburban life, rapid urban development, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the often-subtle social undercurrents that shape our communities.

“From the moment I discovered oil paints, I was hooked—their texture, smell, drying time, and versatility; just about everything drew me in. In many ways, oil paint is the reason I fell in love with painting.”
“Every painting I create is an idea, an idea birthed from a moment of inspiration. I find these moments random, and not infrequent. I often like to think that I don’t need to travel too far before something starts resembling a painting; a building, a bridge, a stretch of railway, or even an ordinary street I could be walking down. Typically, a scene and narrative will emerge in my mind, a landscape that I then search for to photograph. The canvas becomes the final stage, the conduit through which the idea is rendered.” Oscar Garcia
While not conceived as a formal series, and not intended as literal representations, these are anecdotal paintings—personal observations rendered and narratively adapted to reflect a shared, relatable terrain. Each piece is shaped by the artist’s perspective but also serves as an open landscape for the viewer’s own interpretation.
