“Vivid, intoxicating play from gleaming future stars.” – The Guardian

The Leonkoro Quartet exploded onto the world stage with all the excitement their name, meaning Lionheart, promises. The Berlin-based prodigies formed in 2019 and already tour the world, playing with courage, candour and heart. ACO are thrilled to present the young stars for their Sydney debut, introducing a new generation of musicians with the renegade spirit and commitment to excellence the ACO has long championed.

Hear the dynamic foursome play one of the great touchstones of chamber music – their youth and intensity a perfect match for Death and the Maiden. Schubert’s haunting grapple with the human condition is a wordless poem of stunning melancholy, as a young woman begs Death to let her live. Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A Minor is loved for its radiant melodies and potent passion. And Henriette Bosman’s rarely heard String Quartet is an atmospheric, delightful discovery.
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the future of chamber music, with this ensemble who play with precision, maturity and depth well beyond their years.
