Bachelor of Arts (Theatre Studies)

Theatre is a broad and dynamic part of the performing arts industry, offering a diverse range of employment opportunities for graduates, such as acting, directing, producing, teaching, designing, stage management, light and sound rigging, scriptwriting, arts administration and countless other creative roles. In addition to being entertaining, theatre provides a platform from which to gain new perspectives on the conditions which shape our shared humanity.

The theatre studies major has been designed to equip you with the hands-on skills needed to engage in social, economic and political situations. In core subjects you will learn the practical skills of crafting theatre, from acting to movement to voice work to devising and staging, and how to use theoretical knowledge to analyse contemporary and historical theatre practice.

You will put this knowledge into practice in your final year, when you will take part in a full-length public theatre production in one of the purpose-built, state-of-the-art theatres on campus. Our staff are all highly experienced theatre professionals with many years of involvement in the broader performing arts industry, and share a passion for educating aspiring practitioners, technicians, educators and future arts workers.
