MTC reacts angrily to Enoch’s Philip Parsons provocations

The QTC Artistic Director’s lecture about sustainability in the theatre sector has ruffled feathers in some quarters.

Melbourne Theatre Company (MTC) says it is ‘extremely disappointed’ in comments made by Wesley Enoch, Queensland Theatre Company’s (QTC) Artistic Director, in his Philip Parsons Memorial Lecture at Belvoir on Sunday.

Reporting on a draft of Enoch’s speech on Saturday, Fairfax newspapers ran two separate articles in Melbourne and Sydney depicting his lecture, entitled ‘I Don’t Do It For The Money’, as an attack on state-funded theatre companies who underpay independent theatre-makers.
