The large-scale art market taking place at The Quad in Lismore on Saturday the 1st of June will exhibit and celebrate the creative cultural heritage of the Bundjalung region.
Stalls will feature a mix of established and emerging artists and collectives employing traditional and contemporary materials including weaving, ceramics, carving, photography, painting and textiles.
The Market is the outcome of a region-wide Indigenous arts project ‘Art on Bundjalung Country’, a project which Arts Northern Rivers successfully secured funding for from the Department for Communications and the Arts’ Indigenous Languages and Arts Program. A feature of the project is bringing Aboriginal people together to connect socially, foster participation and cultural exchange and build the capacity, health and wellbeing of emerging Aboriginal artists through various art forms. The project is also financially supported by The North Coast Primary Health Network and is delivered in partnership with Lismore Regional Gallery to culminate the project with the Bundjalung Art Market.
Art On Bundjalung Market is a free event that will begin with a Welcome to Country, dancing from the Nini Nahri-Gali Dance Troupe and include local music, food and weaving circles.
