Chamber Made and The Substation are pleased to launch Voltage, a significant new commissioning and presentation opportunity for Victorian mid-career or established independent artists working at the intersection of contemporary performance, sound and music.
Set to culminate in a public presentation season in September 2026, Voltage offers substantial support, including cash contributions, in-kind producing and production support, and dedicated studio access — all delivered by two of Australia’s leading organisations in experimental and interdisciplinary practice.
Expressions of Interest are open and close on 23 June 2025.
Designed for artists with an in-development project or one already in the pipeline, Voltage offers producing leadership from Chamber Made and co-presentation by The Substation. The selected artist(s) will receive tailored assistance across all stages of the process – from budgeting and contracting, to production, marketing and ticketing – alongside access to rehearsal and presentation space in The Substation’s renowned main space.
This is a rare chance for mid-career artists to scale up their work with meaningful support and a clear presentation outcome.
Chamber Made and The Substation have an ongoing history of collaboration, including the development and presentation of works such as Diaspora (2019) and My Self in That Moment (2022), as well as joint delivery of Chamber Made’s Hi-Viz Practice Exchange during its formative years.
