Midsumma is Australia’s premier queer arts and cultural organisation, bringing together a diverse mix of LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, communities, and audiences.
Midsumma Festival is a volunteer-fuelled organisation that wouldn’t exist without the contribution of individuals within our community.
Our primary event, Midsumma Festival, usually runs over 22 days in Melbourne’s summer (January/February) each year with an explosion of queer events that center around hidden and mainstream queer culture, involving local, interstate, and international artists.
Midsumma Festival 2024 will return from Sunday 21 January to Sunday 11 February.
Festival volunteers work on our signature events, which are:
– Midsumma Carnival, held in Alexandra Gardens on Sunday 21st January.
– Midsumma Pride March, held in St Kilda on Sunday 4th February.
– Victoria’s Pride (previously Melbourne Pride), held in Fitzroy/Collingwood on Sunday 11th February.
Volunteers can choose to volunteer for one or more events.
There are plenty of roles on offer. Roles vary depending on the event’s requirements. Examples of roles are:
– Audience, Vehicle & Wave Marshals
– Participants sign-in
– Volunteer Headquarters
– Surveys & Donation Team
– Production Support
– Site set up & pack down
– Team leaders
Volunteering with us is a great opportunity to make new friends and join a group of like-minded individuals who want to help out and support Midsumma Festival and the communities it represents. This team has been growing for years and loves new members.
