The Tasmanian Literary Awards (Formerly known as the Premiers’ Literary Prizes) celebrate excellence in the Tasmanian literary sector, raise the profile of Tasmanian authors and foster and support literary talent in our State. The awards support and foster literary talent in Tasmania, the new Tasmanian Literary Awards will now only be open to writers living in Tasmania.
Longlists for the book awards will be announced in October 2022, shortlists for all awards will be announced November 2022, the winners will be announced in December 2022.
The Tasmanian Literary Awards are administered by Arts Tasmania on behalf of the Tasmanian Government.

Premier’s Prize for Fiction – $25,000

Tim Thorne Prize for Poetry – $25,000
For a published book of poetry by a Tasmanian writer. This award is named in honour of renowned Tasmanian poet Tim Thorne (1944–2021). Entries open from 2 June 2022 to 13 July 2022

For the best new unpublished literary work by a Tasmanian writer. Supported by the University of Tasmania. Entries open from 2 June 2022 to 27 July 2022

Open to all unpublished and published Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers living in Tasmania. Entries open from 2 June 2022 to 27 July 2022
