The GreenWay is an environmental and active travel corridor linking the Cooks River at Earlwood with the Parramatta River at Iron Cove. Construction has recently commenced on this landmark transformation of the Inner West. On the GreenWay at Cadigal Reserve, Council are constructing a brand new nature play site for children and families.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who reside in NSW are invited to submit an expression of interest for a public artwork within or around this nature play area. 

The artwork should be interactive, responsive to the site, tactile and accessible. Any interpretation of the site is welcome, however the work should be site specific and respond to the environment and place in a compelling manner. 

$250,000 is available for the artist or artist group to design, manufacture and install the artwork. 

Public art selection process occurs in three stages:

  • Stage One: Expression of Interest stage. EOIs due 5:00pm December 14 2023
  • Stage Two: Detailed design phase. Selected artists offered a design development fee of $3,000 to refine their designs for submission and presentation to the Public Art Panel. Stage Two submissions due 5:00pm February 29 2024
  • Stage Three: Selected artists will be commissioned to work with Council to refine their design for fabrication and installation on the GreenWay in October 2024
