In 2024, LGNOP will primarily concentrate on recitative and Italian repertoire .
Staff will include Philip Mayers, Stuart Maunder AM, Sharolyn Kimmorley AM, an Italian language coach, as well as a European expert on recitative. As usual, LGNOP will run for 3 weeks during late November and early December, at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University. LGNOP provides comprehensive support for those with successful auditions; including concentrated daily vocal and language coaching, lectures and discussions centred around relevant cultural environments. Participants also receive a professional video recording and photographs of their performance free of copyright for personal use, and a full scholarship. Additionally, every effort is made to secure complimentary accommodation for those residing outside of Brisbane.
Due to LGNOP’s new focus on recitative and Italian repertoire, former alumni are welcome to apply. Applicants will be notified if they are, or not offered a live audition within 10 days of the deadline (15th March). LGNOP will host an audition in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, on the one of the following dates, Sunday 7th April, Monday 8th April , Tuesday 9th April but specific dates, locations and times are yet to be allocated.
To be considered for an audition, applicants must supply:
· Headshot suitable for publication
· Address and contact details
Language skill levels
Intended audition location (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane)
CV (no more than two pages in length)
A video in which you are performing an aria with recitative, preferably in Italian. (Please provide the score of the selected aria)
·Singers must provide their accompanist for auditions.
