Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District has been making headlines this week following a review that revealed the ambitious project is likely to face a major budget blow-out.
The HK $21.6 billion project could now cost up to HK$16 billion more because of sharp rises in project costs and lower-than expected returns on investment to help fund it the South China Morning Post has reported. That is if the full scale and quality of the planned 40-hectare cultural precinct designed by Norman Foster is to be realised.
