Libraries and archives belonging to Edinburgh University’s School of Scottish Studies are under threat after the university revealed a proposal to separate the archive collection from its associated libraries.

This has sparked anger among students and academics at the university, who fear that the proposed changes will downgrade the Scottish Studies Library and the Celtic Library to university ‘class libraries’ and that up to 60% of books may be stored indefinitely away from campus.
