The body of Maori artist Ralph Hotere was recently laid to rest in Dunedin, following a ceremony that spoke warmly about the artist’s depth and integrity and the vast body of work he leaves behind.

Hundreds gathered at St. Joseph’s Cathedral to watch the ceremony, including the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Chris Finlayson and poet Professor Bill Manhire. A crowd of schoolchildren from Port Chalmers School also lined the streets to honour the artist who was very involved in the school community.
