Ten-time Grammy award winning artist Bob Dylan has become the first rock musician to be admitted to the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a society which commonly admits authors, composers and architects but never rockers – until now.

Dylan has been admitted as an honorary member because officials couldn’t decide whether he should be admitted for his words or his music.
