The City of Newcastle’s Newcastle Art Gallery has announced Sydney-based artist Natasha Walsh as the recipient of the Kilgour Prize 2018 for her painting, Within the Studio (self-portrait) 2017.

The annual award celebrates figurative and portrait painting. The Kilgour Prize is also one of Australia’s most lucrative art prizes awarding a $50,000 cash prize for the winning artist and a $5,000 People’s Choice Award for the work voted most popular by the public, funded by the bequest of artist Jack Noel Kilgour.
