WA’s cultural sector bucks privatisation trend

Instead of selling off state-owned infrastructure, Perth’s theatres are once again under management by government.

The new year began in Western Australia with the Perth Theatre Trust – a statutory authority operating as part of the state’s Department of Culture and the Arts – resuming direct management of several key venues in the state.

His Majesty’s Theatre, the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, Subiaco Arts Centre, and Albany Entertainment Centre are once again being managed by Perth Theatre Trust, having previously been managed by the private company AEG Ogden.
