At a cost of $45 million, the Library and Heritage Centre is the biggest project that the Geelong City Council has ever undertaken. The six-story, state of the art, dome-like structure will take almost two years to complete, and is scheduled for completion in late 2015.

Designers explored the idea of blending the building with the surrounding parkland, and the final design works with this in mind. The inspiration for the dome-like structure is drawn from reading rooms such as the State Library of Victoria.
