For many positions, particularly those with government bodies or in the public service there are strict recruitment processes and the requirement to address key selection criteria. These can be mysterious and daunting for many applicants but your application is likely to not get through the first round if you don’t address the selection criteria.

The selection criteria statement is a way to give real-life examples of what you’ve done, your skills, qualifications, experience and knowledge. These examples help potential employers predict how you might respond to situations you that may encounter in the role you’re apply for and whether you will be able to do handle it. Are you going to be a good fit? They want to know you can respond appropriately and in a way that is in keeping with their corporate culture.
