St Kilda Festival

Since its inception in 1980, the St Kilda Festival has evolved from a two day street party to a nine day event, spanning various venues and locations across the entire St Kilda precinct. The Festival kicks off with a showcase of music from Australia's leading Indigenous artists as part of Yalukit Willam Ngargee: People Place Gathering - a welcoming event by and for the local Indigenous community.

This is followed by an eight day program of Live N Local music, visual arts, street performance, film, poetry and comedy. The Festival culminates on Festival Sunday where festival goers of around 300,000 enjoy a wide variety of Australian music and interactive activities.

The St Kilda Festival Sunday is one of Australia's oldest and much loved street festival events. Now in its 31st year the festival grows from strength to strength and is respected throughout the world as one of the great free music festivals.
