Established in 1987, AIDC is a not-for-profit organisation committed to the sustainability of documentary, factual and interactive storytelling. The goal of the organisation is to connect creators, purveyors and viewers of nonfiction screen content in ways that promote business, inspire creativity and ignite social change. Held in Melbourne and featuring a four-day international marketplace, forum and screening program, the event attracts a diverse mix of broadcasters, storytellers, entrepreneurs and documentary fans from Australia, the Asia-Pacific and beyond.
Governed by a Board of Directors, the AIDC Ltd, is a not for profit entity with an annual turnover of approx. $1 million. The CEO/Conference Director reports to the Board and has the dual responsibility of managing the business of the organization and delivering an annual conference program.
Since it’s inception the AIDC has grown from a local biennial conference into a significant annual event on the international calendar, occurring in February/March. Each year we attract 650 + delegates and we have more than 4000 industry professionals from across the globe registered on our database.
We have also become a fixture in the travelling schedule of television buyers and commissioners from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia, bringing ever-increasing opportunities for the Australian documentary and factual television industry for investment and collaboration.
