Chamber Music Adelaide (CMA) facilitates and supports the performance of chamber music in Adelaide.
CMA was formed in January 2013 to support the performance of chamber music by seven core organisations – Adelaide Baroque, Ensemble Galante, Kegelstatt Ensemble, Recitals Australia, Soundstream New Music, The Firm and Various People Inc. In addition, it promotes a wider remit of chamber music performers and presenters in South Australia and celebrates Adelaide as a UNESCO City of Music, along with 180 cities in 72 countries worldwide
Chamber Music Adelaide (CMA) is passionately committed to forging innovative collaborations and expanding relationships with musicians and audiences alike. Chamber Music Adelaide has become best known for On the Terrace, its free annual event in collaboration with the Art Gallery of SA, SA Museum, the State Library of SA and the Migration Museum.
On the Terrace won an innovation award in 2016 and has fast become an established part of Adelaide’s summer chamber music calendar. On the Terrace was one of four finalists in the 2018 Ruby Awards for Best Work or Event Outside a Festival.
The inaugural CMA Young Artist Award was launched by Chamber Music Adelaide in July 2018 to support emerging South Australian classical artists. The CMA Young Artist Award provides a cash prize and professional performance opportunities for early career classical instrumentalists and vocalists, supported by generous South Australian philanthropists, our CMA Champions, and matched funding from Creative Partnerships Australia.
CMA publishes a biannual brochure of chamber music events, a monthly e-newsletter and regular social media posts.
