Penrith is a thriving city with the space, the people and the vision to make things happen. It is home to the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in the city centre and the Penrith Regional Gallery and Lewers Bequest on the Nepean River.
Penrith City Council actively seeks out and takes advantage of opportunities for development and transformation while maintaining our position as leaders in regional business, employment and logistics.
As a Regional City, Penrith is geographically positioned to service a population well beyond the boundaries of its 36 suburbs and localities, tapping into the North West and South West Growth Centres. In the next two decades, the City's catchment is estimated to extend to more than 900,000.
Penrith itself is a city on the western fringe of the Sydney metropolitan area, in east central New South Wales, Australia. Penrith is approximately 54km by road west of Sydney city, 30m above sea level and is located at latitude 33.47 S and longitude 150.44 E. The local government boundaries of the City of Penrith cover an area of some 407 square kilometres on the Nepean River flats of the Cumberland Plain.
