About Us

Bundanon is a place for research, creativity and connection to living cultures.

The establishment of Bundanon represents one of the most significant acts of philanthropy in the history of the arts in Australia. Arthur and Yvonne Boyd’s gift of Bundanon in 1993 was driven by a big vision, which has been built upon by subsequent acts of private generosity and government support, creating the cultural institution for artistic enjoyment and learning that thrives today in the Shoalhaven.

In late 2021, the new Art Museum and the Bridge for creative learning will open. The Art Museum – partially buried in the landscape – sits at the heart of the new plan for Bundanon, with a dramatic bridge landing onto an expansive public plaza near the existing nineteenth century buildings.

The Bundanon Art Collection comprises over 3,600 items with more than 1,200 works by Arthur Boyd, another 1,200 works representing five generations of the Boyd family dynasty and a number of works by Arthur Boyd’s contemporaries, such as Sir Sidney Nolan, John Perceval, Joy Hester and Charles Blackman. Donations from past artists in residence also form a significant part of the Collection.
