Visitor Experience Officer - Cultural Venues

Ballarat is home to some of Australia’s most historically significant cultural venues including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange. City of Ballarat’s freshly formed Cultural Venues team is embarking on exciting period of change and growth. In late 2024, Victoria’s oldest theatre is re-opening for its 150th anniversary after multiple stages of revitalisation, Civic Hall is returning to its live music touring roots and the Mining Exchange is being re-imagined for the future as a destination for art, performance, design, food, wine and more.
The Role:
We are looking for experienced Visitor Experience Officers to join a refreshed Cultural Venues team to deliver exceptional visitor experiences for patrons. Visitor Experience Officers are the face of our venues and play a critical role in ensuring the seamless delivery of customer and commercial services. This includes responding to enquires, upselling, ticket sales, bar sales, scanning, ushering and handle all enquiries made via phone, online and in person in an enthusiastic and professional manner.
This is an opportunity for experienced operators who thrive working in a fast-paced and buoyant environment and proactively as a part of a team. With a flare for understanding how to anticipate the needs of customers the role will have a key responsibility for ensuring our patrons want to keep coming back to our venue time and time again.

Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in customer facing roles, preferably in a cultural venues, festivals and/or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated ability to champion, model and promote the corporate values.
- Highly motivated with a desire to work in a fast-paced and dynamic organisation.
- An ability to use initiative and work collaboratively with a diverse client, customer, team and stakeholders
- A willingness to contribute and work as a proactive member of the team
- Computer Literacy including POS, Venue Management Systems, Rostering, Excel, EFTPOS, and ticketing systems.
- Ability to meet moderate to heavy physical demands of role whilst observing OH&S requirements.
- A satisfactory Working with Children Check
- A satisfactory National Police Check
- First Aid Certificate Level 1 or Level 2 or willing to obtain.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- Availability to work flexible hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays across a 14-day roster.
