Are you looking for a curatorial challenge? Are you excited by the prospect of connecting new audiences to the work of Australian artists? Artbank's team of Art Consultants work with one of Australia's largest collections of visual art to engage the broader public through an accessible and affordable art leasing scheme...and we are looking for someone new to join our team.
WHO IS ARTBANK?
Artbank is a program of the Australian Government that directly supports contemporary artists through the acquisition of their work while actively promoting the value of Australian visual art to both the public and private sectors. Operating successfully for over 38 years, Artbank is a largely self-sustaining organisation that generates revenue through the loaning of artworks on a commercial basis. The Artbank collection of approximately 11,000 artworks are leased by private, commercial and government clients, and Australian embassies around the world as well as being loaned for exhibitions around the country. We balance the running of a sustainable business against our other objectives of support and promotion. To this end, we run a diverse array of curatorial and client lead programming which includes exhibitions, commissioning, forums, private functions, publications and other public engagement activities.
Artbank is a dynamic and progressive organisation operated by a passionate and highly skilled team of arts professionals – of which you could be one.
Through the provision of high-level art consultancy services you will act as a public face for the organisation – working with potential and existing clients in support of Artbank’s art leasing program. You will be a great communicator and possess the ability to interpret a client’s need and translate this into a tailored (curated) selection of artworks drawn from the Artbank collection. Importantly, you will also be able to balance the need for revenue generation alongside Artbank’s objectives of supporting and promoting Australian art and artists. You will achieve this through a work ethic second to none and a sales/customer service approach to be envied. This role makes a significant contribution to Artbank’s organisational objectives through supporting the development and implementation of business development strategies, driving new business and setting and meeting financial and other performance targets.
This is a full-time position for someone who has a high attention to detail, is a self-starter with the drive and motivation to deliver results whether working independently or as part of a team and, is an open and engaging communicator and who values quality customer service - ideally with an interest/experience working with contemporary art. This position and Artbank’s head office is based in Waterloo, Sydney.
