Melbourne Recital Centre is a venue of and for the 21st century: celebrating the past, welcoming the present and imagining the future, a place where artists and audiences are invited to engage, challenge and explore. With a unique focus on music, the Centre presents and hosts hundreds of concerts each year, representing the pinnacle of the art form as practised by Australian and international performers in a dazzlingly diverse array of styles, from early music to post-rock. The Centre’s learning and access activities beyond the Centre provide opportunities for Victorians of all ages and backgrounds to experience outstanding performances.
Melbourne Recital Centre comprises two strikingly beautiful spaces; the magnificent 1000-seat Elisabeth Murdoch Hall and the Salon, a 140-seat flexible performance space. Both spaces were carefully crafted to present the best music the world has to offer and bring musicians and music-lovers closer.
A rare opportunity has arisen for a dynamic professional to join the Recital Centre and make an impact in a broad and exciting position. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Corporate Services will be responsible for the effective management and leadership of the Corporate Services Team to deliver efficient, high-quality and timely support to internal and external stakeholders. The portfolio will include Finance, ICT, Organisational Performance and Reporting, HR, Governance and Asset Management.
You will ensure the best use of resources creates an optimal level of funds available for the delivery of programs, in addition to complying with the relevant reporting requirements of a Government entity. This role combines the requirement to provide strategic leadership alongside an operational imperative to integrate and work practices, policies and procedures to deliver MRC’s key objectives.
Key priorities will include building organisational capacity, continually improving corporate reporting to inform organisational decision-making, and building confidence across the organization in the corporate functions through the provision of accurate and insightful advice, effective use of technology and outstanding customer service. This role is critical to Melbourne Recital Centre as it continues to embrace its reputation as a music venue and leader in the arts.
To be considered you will be an experienced and ethical leader, highly qualified with a relevant degree in Business/Accounting and with experience leading a corporate service function, ideally within a public sector organisation. As a leader, you will support and develop staff to build their capability and capacity that supports an engaged and committed workplace culture. Your style will be engaging and dynamic, and you will relish working in a complex and changing environment, with the ability to respond promptly to the rapidly changing demands of a fast-paced industry and technological advancement.
You will enjoy working with ambiguity, be prepared to roll up your sleeves to build a high performing culture. Naturally you will be a skilled communicator, able to engage and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, and be comfortable working in and representing the work of the MRC with a broad stakeholder group. CA/CPA membership essential.
