Ausdance ACT is seeking two Board members, for a current vacancy and an expected vacancy.
All Ausdance ACT Board positions are volunteer roles. Board members need not be current residents of the ACT; meeting virtually got us through 2020 and, of course, we still hold at least partly virtual meetings.
ABOUT AUSDANCE ACT:
Ausdance ACT is the peak body for dance in Australia’s capital. Ausdance ACT is an artsACT program-funded incorporated association and ACNC-registered charity.
Ausdance ACT provides high quality, accessible and inclusive dance programs, from across all genres, which engage and inspire dance makers, performers, audiences, and other participants in the ACT and surrounds. More details can be found here.
Ausdance ACT’s team members and current Board members can be found here. Current Board experience and skills include: professional dance performance in Canberra and elsewhere, including overseas; curriculum and other dance education-in-schools and colleges; private studio ownership and professional dance education in studios; small-medium business entrepreneurship, marketing and business management; law (President/Chair and another Board member); and chartered accountancy (Treasurer).
EXPECTATIONS OF BOARD MEMBERS:
Board members –
- actively contribute to the organisation’s development, planning, programs and governance;
- attend Board meetings, face to face or by Zoom (but of course subject to unavoidable, unexpected commitments);
- attend Ausdance ACT and sector events whenever they can;
- represent Ausdance ACT when required; and
- generally champion dance!
A love of the arts and culture and especially for dance in the Nation’s Capital is highly desirable.
It is essential that Board members not be affected by any ongoing conflict of interest, for example because of employment or governance roles in other organisations.
Due to anticipated Board changes, we would appreciate interest from people experienced in arts law issues.
Ausdance ACT Board Meetings in 2021 are scheduled, from February, for the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5.30pm. Meetings are held at Gorman Arts Centre and/or by Zoom.
