Alice Springs. 2039. A fish falls from the sky.

And so begins a stark, magical and emotionally raw play where a father abandons his child, a daughter inherits a mistake and where the rain doesn’t stop.

‘When the Rain Stops Falling’ takes place between two worlds – between a prediction in London 1959 and its outcome in Australia eighty years later.

‘When the Rain Stops Falling’ follows the journey of Gabriel Law – from the claustrophobia of a flat in rainy London to the scorched heart of the Australian desert – as he attempts to solve the mystery of his father’s disappearance. But for Gabriel the past is as mysterious as the fish.

This intricate, multi-layered story explores betrayal, abandonment, destruction, forgiveness and love. First performed in 2008, the play has become increasingly relevant as the world faces the impacts of climate change and global warming.
