AUSTRALIAN MADE CONTEMPORARY SCULPTURE IN THE SHOP WINDOWS AND SIDEWALKS OF TOORAK ROAD, TOORAK VILLAGE
The Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition is on again for 2024 with a new date and a brand-new upgraded street…. gorgeous brass inlaid pavements, classy new furniture, Crepe Myrtle trees lining Toorak Rd and 99 sculptures.
Starting Sunday 1st September to Sunday 13th October, the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition is a 6-week event where we turn the Toorak Village into a street gallery. Contemporary sculptural works are exhibited in the shop windows of the small businesses along Toorak Road and side streets, with large sculptures bolted along the sidewalks of Toorak Village.
The Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition was initiated by Ken Scarlett OAM and Xenia Holt in 2002 who excited the committee of the business association to stage an innovative exhibition of sculpture, linking the arts with business. This will be the 21st year of exhibiting Australian made sculpture and supporting 1000’s of artists in the Toorak Village over the years.
The exhibition is curated by Malcolm Thomson, who will bring fresh ideas to support both the artists and the businesses in making the village a unique destination for sculpture. 83 small to medium sized sculptures have been selected for display in the shop windows and 5 large exterior sculptures will be bolted to footpaths along Toorak Road along with 11 permanent sculptures purchased by the Toorak Village businesses from previous exhibitions. All sculpture submissions are original, made in Australia and available for sale.
