Unlock your potential in the world of contemporary opera with Resonant Narratives, a unique 2024 Opera Masterclass. This intensive program in Nipaluna/Hobart, offers graduate and early career opera and performance creators an unparalleled opportunity to elevate their skills and knowledge. Led by acclaimed industry experts, composer Mary Finsterer, librettist Tom Wright and music director Jack Symonds, you’ll gain in-depth insights into libretto writing, composing, and musical directing.

Creating effective and innovative collaborative experiences and sector networking opportunities with peers and industry leaders is an itegral part of the Masterclass. The course culminates in the presentation of original opera vignettes performed in the Ian Potter Recital Hall by Jessica O’Donoghue and Simon Lobelson from the Sydney Chamber Opera Company. 

  • The program is designed specifically for Composers, Conductors and Librettists and will deliver a comprehensive learning experience over an 6 week online and 6-day face to face program, through a mixture of lectures, performances, and practical sessions.
  • The Masterclass will run online from February and in person in nipaluna Hobart in April 2024.
  • The in-person component of the masterclass will be located in the Hedberg Building and Theatre Royal, part of the University of Tasmania’s College of Arts, Law and Education,
  • The program will require the participants to be resident in Hobart for this period.
