The Northern Territory’s premier performing arts venue delivers a curated annual program that reflects and enriches the lifestyle and cultural identity of the Territory.

With the first half of the year behind us, there is plenty to look forward to over the coming six months as Darwin Entertainment Centre (DEC) presents a bespoke program of events tailored to the diverse audiences of the Top End.

Following the recent presentation of the annual First Nations-led Garrmalang Festival, DEC brings to Darwin The Visitors (Sep) by Jane Harrison, directed by Wesley Enoch and co-produced by Moogahlin Performing Arts and Sydney Theatre Company. The Visitors is at once a riveting, deeply researched insight into one of the most impactful and painful days in Australia’s history, and a hugely entertaining study of how communities respond to change and the unknown.

With razor-sharp wit and undeniable charm, Are You Pulling My Leg? (Jul) drops hilarious and uncensored insights into disability by some of Australia’s funniest comedians living with disability or chronic illness.

Sydney Dance Company (Jun) and Victorian State Ballet (Dec) will satiate audiences hungry for new and world-class contemporary dance and classical ballet with performances momenta and The Nutcracker.

DEC’s annual partnership with Darwin Festival (Aug) this year sees the exciting co-presentation of lauded performances Fourteen by Shake & Stir Theatre Co and Wayfinder by Dancenorth Australia.

The National Theatre of Parramatta’s captivating production Guards at the Taj (Oct) questions what happens to a life-long friendship when ordinary men are ordered to do the unthinkable.

Young people are not forgotten with an exciting and informative program that includes going on adventures with prehistoric animals in Dinosaur Time Machine (Oct), the whimsical fun of The Gruffalo (Nov), and critical themes for teens tackled head on as Resident Company SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre directs the spotlight onto teenage road deaths in TIME (Sep) and identity and beauty standards in Beautiful (Dec).

With performances year-round, the Darwin Entertainment Centre Presents program stream brings to the Territory remarkable events that audiences will long remember.
