Both artists preserve their experiences of the natural world and delight in the small details that make up the garden, bush and coast.
Nature preserved explores the natural cycle of birth, growth and decay. From the swell of a wave as it curves into a green arc only to crash into foam as it reaches shallow water’s edge, to an empty snail shell lying abandoned in the garden bed, the artists use their respective media to preserve their real and imagined memories of the natural world.
The exhibition will examine the many facets of nature from expansive scenes of coastal grandeur to the more intimate world of birds and botanicals and the fragility of habitat.
It is the artists’ intention to take the viewer on a journey that begins with traditional ideas of scenic beauty and moves beyond this to a more personal concept of the beauty to be found in simple objects purposefully contemplated and artfully preserved. The concept of perfection as beauty will sit side by side with the acknowledgement that imperfections can sometimes provide a more compelling and thought-provoking visual experience.
The exhibition includes painting, printmaking, fibre art and up-cycled fabrics, sculptural resin and furniture.
