Join the penguin parade as we take over The Ian Potter Centre for Performing Arts with an Antarctic festival that’s flowing with ice play, glacier music, theatre inspired by krill and whales, and a whole lot more.
Monash University’s latest research and explorations in Antarctica will help shed light on this mysterious and remote continent, in a highly creative, scientific, but not quite so freezing, Family Fiesta!
Featuring:
• The Rock Star and The Krill: An all new singing, dancing and entirely krilling performance for kids and their grown-ups.
• ColdVoice: Learn to play never-before-seen musical instruments made of ice.
• Into the Ice with Alison Lester and Coral Tulloch: Two of Australia’s favourite author-illustrators on an exciting adventure to Antarctica.
• The Very Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra: A concert that will open children’s eyes and ears to the magical world of the orchestra.
…and a whole lot more. There is free live music and lots of free activities during Family Fiesta to keep busy with, including art play activations ICE PLAY, where you can build icy landscapes, hop icebergs and go magnetic fishing, and POLAR CAMP, where you can dress as an Antarctic scientist and imagine what it’s like to live and work in a frosty world.
Family Fiesta is bursting with performances, interactive experiences, and fun!
