Sky Eternal is a large-scale immersive video projection of moving cloudscapes mirrored it to create a kind of moving Rorschach inkblot. Accompanied by an ambient soundscape the work is mesmerising and mediative. The sky is universal and timeless, it unites us all, it is a metaphor, for positivity, hope, heaven, innovation and more. Staring at clouds and finding pictures, is a game we play as children. The joy of finding recognisable things in the patterns of the clouds stays with us into adulthood bringing us closer to that intuitive part of ourselves. There is something that happens when we stand on top of a mountain or at the edge of the ocean and look out at the sky. The immensity of the scene holds us in two spaces simultaneously; an outward universal space and an inner intensely personal one. The sky is elemental, its formlessness and ceaseless change was here before us and will be here long after we are gone. No matter when and where in the world we are, we find ourselves under this eternal sky.
