AFTRS Open Day opens doors

AFTRS invites prospective students to learn about the 2017 BA Screen, Diplomas and Postgraduate programs, meet tutors and alumni, plus tour the Sydney campus. 10 Sept, 10am-4.30pm.

On Saturday 10 September Australia’s national screen and broadcast school, the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) will open its doors to prospective students.

Established to fuel and empower Australian creativity and storytelling, AFTRS graduates are highly sought after for their dynamism, broad base of skills and ability to add value to a company from day one. The School has an impressive list of alumni including: Jane Campion (The Piano, Top of the Lake), Ivan Sen (Goldstone) and Margaret Sixel, winner of the 2016 Academy Award for film editing this year for Mad Max: Fury Road.

‘Australia has a diversity of voices and we want to find and empower storytellers from all over the country. AFTRS provides unrivalled opportunities for its students to develop skills, network and form professional relationships. We continually work with the screen and broadcast industries to understand current needs so we can help students build lifelong careers,’ said AFTRS CEO Neil Peplow.

AFTRS Open Day will include presentations about the range of courses on offer, including the Bachelor of Screen – Production combining theory and practice-driven learning, enabling students to emerge industry-ready and able to develop multi-platform content.

Next year students can also choose from nine Diplomas, allowing them to develop skills from Camera and Editing to Screen Design and Production Management, plus eight Advanced Diplomas including Art Direction, Screenwriting for Television, Visual Effects and Production Sound. There is also an extensive postgraduate program of courses including eight Graduate Certificates, an MA Screen in 11 disciplines plus an MA Screen: Business & Leadership

During Open Day prospective students can speak to AFTRS course tutors and Alumni and tour the impressive state-of-the-art studios to get a closer look at the equipment available as well as the work students create during their courses.

Attend postgraduate Information Evening: 21 Sept, 6-8pm

AFTRS 2017 postgraduate courses are designed to nurture the next generation of visionary screen storytellers who can work at the highest level of Australian screen culture.

In 2017, AFTRS is running an expanded postgraduate program and you can find out about the 8 part-time Graduate Certificates, the MA Screen: Business & Leadership and the new MA Screen with 11 disciplines at the Postgraduate Information Evening.
